A Vintage Sewing Giveaway!!

Well, dear readers, it's been a while since I gave something away. One of the best things I've discovered in creating this blog is that I now have an easy way to share my love of vintage-y sewing with others who love it just as much!

Today I have another couple of little treasures to give away to one lucky reader. First of all we have a rather well loved copy of Enid Gilchrist's Six To Nine Years - Boy and Girl Clothes. Enid is a well loved Australian author who created many titles of books where mother's could make their children economical and stylish clothes at home. This issue covers items such as Swim Shorts, Princess Dress, One-Piece Peasant Blouse, and Raglan Style Pajamas. All pages intact, except for a corner of the front cover and the back cover is missing.

Also included in this giveaway is a crazily sweet Vogue Pattern #2821 One Piece Dress for size 6 months. Made in 1958, this pattern is divine and even the cover illustration is gorgeous.

If you would like to own these two vintage sewing exquisites, then tell me your favourite 'vintage' sewing moment. It might be when you found your most favourite dress pattern at the op shop. It might be when your grandma taught you how to cross stitch. You get the idea... go for it! Please leave your comment before Sunday 13th August, 9pm AEST.

Hi Gilly, my favourite was when I picked up sewing (in later life) and my mum gave me her vintage patterns that she made for me when I was a baby. (I was born in the 60's). I love those patterns and have made them!

Those patterns looks absolutely fab, especially the little dress. It is just what I am after now that I have a niece (finally).

Have a great day!

Oooh, I'd love to try my hand at those! My vintage sewing moment was when I was about 5 or 6. I asked Santa Claus for a sewing machine. Then, the day before Christmas, while snooping around for presents, I found the sewing machine! I wasn't too upset about realising that Santa wasn't real because I was too excited and wanted to start sewing right away. It was a very cute pink sewing machine...!

I love this vintage patterns and they are really hard to find, specially on this other side of the world (Brazil). Even if you hand't counted with someone so far out competing for your giveaway, I'll leave my comment: my vintage moment would be learning the first steps of sewing with my mother. Some sewing of buttons and trying my hand on her machine. I think I was ten. I stop sewing for a long time but now I'm back and I'm hoping to do a lot of things. :D

Gotta love Enid!
Well, there was a time I did sew. I used my Mums old Singer and whipped up all manner of things..even a pair of bikinis! But one day I had a nasty accident and it scarred me for life.
Then last year I pulled out my dusty old Husqvana and began sewing when OOOOOW ,another nasty accident. So I am now officially OFF sewing.
So I am definitely not eligible for the patterns until I get my sewing mojo back.

I LOVE Enid Gildchrist books... And my "moment" would be re-discovering a bassinette full of my old dolls at my Mum's house - most of them dressed in the clothes I'd made for them when I was a child. There was also the Enid Gildchrist "Teen Dolls" book that I'd grown up with as a pattern-drafting 'bible'.

I am sure there are others, but my favourite vintage sewing moment that springs to mind happened last week when I took the kids to see my grandmother. She gave me her fabric stash, which includes fabric she bought to make clothes for my aunts when they were kids (the youngest is now 50!). I've had a sick bub so haven't had a good chance to go through it all, but can't wait to get in there!
